titanLIGHT™

The titanLIGHT was the first rugged, waterproof, refillable lighter built around readily available liquid fuel, and it is still the benchmark for a lighter you can genuinely depend on. An ordinary lighter has three ways to let you down in the field: it leaks, it empties itself in your pack, and it stops working when it is wet or cold. The titanLIGHT was engineered to close all three of those gaps at once.

Every cap is sealed with its own o-ring. That makes the body waterproof to more than one meter and, just as importantly, stops the fuel evaporating while the lighter sits in a drawer or a bug-out bag. A filled titanLIGHT stays ready for months rather than days. The 1-revolution quickTHREAD cap opens with a single turn for fast access to the flame and re-seals just as quickly, so you are never fighting the tool when you need fire.

Ignition is a high-spark flint wheel rather than a piezo igniter. Piezo mechanisms are usually the first thing to fail on a cheap lighter, and butane will not vaporize below freezing, but a flint wheel throwing sparks into liquid fuel works in wind, in the cold, and after a soaking. The flint is user-replaceable in under a minute: hold down the flame guard, press out the brass pin, and swap it. Refills take roughly 3 mL of standard lighter fluid, about two capfuls of the smaller cap.

The body is machined in the USA from aircraft-grade aluminum and is covered by U.S. Patent No. 10,544,937. It is designed to give reliable service for a lifetime, backed by Exotac's lifetime warranty, and offered in Black, Gunmetal, Olive Drab, and Blaze Orange. Pair it with a fireSLEEVE as a BIC backup, a candleTIN for sustained light and heat, or a ferrocerium rod as the fuel-free last resort. For most people the titanLIGHT is the primary fire source in every kit, the one lighter you refill and carry for years instead of replacing every season.
